Effective Educational & Therapeutic Services

Our academic interventionists are certified special education teachers who provide targeted intervention in the area of reading and literacy. Our academic interventionists are trained in many evidence-based reading and literacy programs that can specifically target a client’s reading needs.

Our academic interventionists help clients develop an understanding of the different types of writing as well as features of effective writing such as focus, organization, elaboration, conventions and style. Components of effective writing include grammatical skill, compositional skill, and domain knowledge.

Students struggling with working memory, numerical reasoning, and practical problem-solving frequently require focused intervention and tailored teaching strategies to foster success in mathematics. Our math intervention experts assist students across all educational stages, pinpointing and addressing their unique challenges.

We offer yoga at EFfective Educational and Therapeutic Services in order to truly address the whole child. We understand that significant stress and anxiety is often accompanied with social deficits and learning struggles

Many individuals with executive functioning challenges sometimes also struggle socially. We offer social skills groups for all age groups.

Many individuals with executive functioning challenges also have difficulty with regulating emotions. This is due to the fact that emotional regulation, impulse control, and metacognition are all subcategories under the overarching executive functioning umbrella. We offer DBT groups to help our clients manage and regulate their feelings.

Parents need help too! Parent coaching provides support to assist parents in learning how to use specific skills and strategies to address behavioral challenges and/or support their child’s growth.

Life can be challenging throughout various stages of the lifespan. We help clients identify their emotions by providing them with the vocabulary necessary to discuss overwhelming feelings, allowing for healing, self-understanding, and personal growth. When working with families, we apply a systems approach which focuses on relationships between a group of people, rather than solely on an individual's thoughts and feelings.

Numerous children and teenagers experiencing challenges in executive functioning and social skills may be eligible for special education resources available via their educational institutions. To assist in understanding and managing the special education system, we offer educational consulting services tailored for families of students with learning variances, 504 plans, and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

As students continue to receive support based on IEP services, transition planning becomes an important area of development. We help students maximize their potential based on preferences, interests, and abilities for post secondary education, career, and independent living.

To support families and individuals with learning differences, navigate the ppt process, and encourage active participation and self determination skills, we offer many helpful services including educational records review, EP analysis, IEP and 504 explanations, assessments and more.

“High stakes” tests can be a source of anxiety and stress for many of our clients. Our SAT support is tailored specifically to each student’s individualized learning needs through 1:1 support including an overview of the test, goal setting, test basics, and time management strategies.

The college admissions process can be overwhelming for many students, and can be especially challenging for those with learning differences. Our individually tailored approach meets each student where they are and breaks down this seemingly daunting undertaking into manageable steps, including college essay support.
